By its decision 19/COP.10, the Conference of the Parties (COP) decided to establish an ad hoc advisory group of technical experts (AGTE), to be tasked with continuing the iterative participatory contribution from the scientific community, national focal points and Science and Technology Correspondents on impact indicator refinement and the monitoring and assessment of impacts. This document contains the recommendations of the AGTE, which are accompanied by: (a) rationale statements that explain how the AGTE reached its conclusions; and (b) implementation guidelines which provide further advice on how the recommendations, if approved by the COP, can be put into practice by affected country Parties. The Committee on Science and Technology may wish to review and discuss these recommendations and subsequently make proposals to be adopted by the COP at its eleventh session.
