Аннотация:We report a study on the gyroscopic effect in a bidirectional ultra-short pulse erbium-doped
all-fiber ring soliton laser hybridly mode-locked with co-action of single-walled carbon
nanotubes and nonlinear polarization evolution introduced by a short-segment polarizing fiber.
We directly compare two gyroscopes with different scale factor values and coil numbers by
studying important gyroscopic characteristics such as rotation sensitivity, dead bandwidth
and beat-note frequency stability. The detected angular velocity ranged from 0.12 deg s−1
to 360 deg s−1, while the highest rotation sensitivity reached 7 kHz/(deg s−1) for a 0.79 m2 single-coil ring gyroscope, which was in agreement with the calculated scale factor value.
The gyroscope dead band with an upper limit of ≈5.15 deg s−1 corresponding to the lowest
beat-note frequency of ≈15 kHz was detected during clockwise rotation of the turntable. The
highest gyroscope resolution of R ~ 0.01 deg s−1 = 38 deg h−1 was estimated on the basis of
bias point drift measurements.
