Аннотация:The study explores the integration of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in teaching academic vocabulary to non-linguistic students in higher education. The research examines both the theoretical foundations and practical implementation of PBL as an innovative approach for enhancing students’ linguistic and cognitive competences. The research problem lies in analysing and developing a workable PBL approach and its verification in the teaching and learning process in a higher education setting. The aim of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of integrating a PBL approach into the teaching of academic vocabulary for non-linguistic students. Distinctive features of PBL and technology of its application are described. The effectiveness of using the method of teaching academic vocabulary is considered. The study highlights the role of Academic Word Lists (AWLs) and problem-based tasks in promoting deep language processing and meaningful application.
