Аннотация:The predominance of shipping and fishing industry waste in coastal pollution at monitoring stations on the Kola Peninsula in the coastal zones of the Barents and White Seas is demonstrated. It is assumed that the Barents Sea is subject to external inputs of floating plastics via ocean currents and ship waste, whereas plastic pollution in the White Sea is mainly caused by internal sources. The paper also analyzes the efficiency of cleaning mixed plastic waste and recyclables at three coastal sites in the Barents Sea with high plastic pollution levels. According to observations, plastic pollution of remote and hard-to-access coasts can be considered predominantly a source of mixed waste, the cleanup of which is assessed as extremely labor-intensive and economically costly.
