Аннотация:The dominance of the European sources in the research literature on the history of Wadai led a great gap that removed the long historical relations between the sultanate of Wadai and the Ottoman Empire. New archival findings in Libya and Turkey shows great details about his untold history. According to these new findings, there was already a long historical connection between Wadai and the Ottomans. In the early 19th century, even a direct economic relation began. The first direct diplomatic relations took place around the 1850s. After the 1870s, both states even aimed to create an ally. After almost 30 years of efforts, in 1899, they were finally able to establish this long-anticipated ally, which lived till 1911.
