Аннотация:Solid dispersions based on benzocaine and polymers (starch and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose) have been prepared via mechanochemical processing in a twin-screw extruder under combined pressure and shear stress conditions. Mechanical co-processing of the drug and the polymers in an extruder has led to amorphization of benzocaine, followed by its uniform distribution in the polymer matrix. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy revealed redistribution of hydrogen bonds during mechanochemical processing. The study results present significant potential for developing novel drug formulations of benzocaine with enhanced bioavailability.
