Аннотация:This paper summarizes the results of several empirical studies of personality regulation of choice and decision making using a set of verbal vignettes in a sample of undergraduate students (n=372). The study examined the interrelationships among different components of Emotional Intelligence, indices of the stages of moral development, acceptance/rejection of uncertainty, as well as readiness for risk, rationality and Machiavellianism. We examined the predictive role of these traits with respect to choices related to a) preference for manipulating other people, b) preference for using emotional information. The results indicated that indices of stages of moral development were stronger predictors of choice in situations involving other people than Emotional Intelligence. Tolerance and intolerance for uncertainty were also linked to choice variables, suggesting the necessity for including this trait into the comprehensive evaluation of the personality regulation of choice.
