Аннотация:The advent of language corpora has significantly influenced the field of linguistics. This phenomenon has facilitated scientific work in academic community and greatly changed the face of education. Although language corpora are ubiquitous in educational sphere, the primary goal of its application is development of language skills. It can be stated that certain supplementary results and extralinguistic skills remain poorly studied. In this vein, the current research aims at describing the linguistic and methodological potential of corpora usage and creating a set of corpus-based exercises. The central scientific method of the current research was pedagogical experiment. The participants of the experiment were 26 students aged 16 with English level A2+. According to specific criteria, five language corpora were selected: iWeb: The Intelligent Web-based Corpus, COCA, The Movie Corpus, The TV Corpus, The Russian National Corpus. The results of the experiment confirm that participants have enriched their vocabulary with new lexical units and examined certain grammatical structures and phonetic phenomena. The methodological results prove the idea that corpus is an essential tool for achieving personal educational goals. It also can be used as a platform for development of search skills and a source of linguistic and extralinguistic knowledge.
