Аннотация:Self-organization of metal nanoparticles in small aggregates or ensembles of nanoparticles provides the unusually high catalytic activity of nanostructured catalysts. Due to this organization, the catalytic activity of nanostructured catalysts strongly depends, in addition to the well-known size effect, on an average distance between metal particles or an average surface particle density. The reason for this phenomenon is thermally stimulated electron tunneling between closely located nanoparticles within an ensemble of nanoparticles resulting in the formation of highly active charged species. This work presents experimental and theoretical evidences for the role of inter-particle interactions within the ensembles of nanoparticles in a number of catalytic reactions sensitive to the charge state of catalyst.
