Аннотация:The experiments on behavior of the sibling species Microtus arvalis and M. rossiaemeridionalis were performed at the Chernogolovka Scientific Station (Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution), using the method of "living room" test. Twenty adult mates of every species were used in a "living room" test. All these animals were offsprings (F1) of voles from sympatric populations dwelling in the vicinity of the station. The character of investigating the unknown anthropogenic territory by both species was compared. The locomotive activity, race length on different layers of the living room and various elements of investigating behavior were analyzed. Under these experimental conditions, the sibling species demonstrated different strategies of behavior. The species M. rossiaemeridionalis turned out to be closer to synanthropic species, but M. arvalis, to wild ones.
