Аннотация:In this paper we demonstrate the possibilities of a novel laser-driven hard X-ray source utilizing
melted metal target for phase contrast imaging. The brightness, source size are discussed. The
efficiency of K-alfa line of Gallium generation (9.3 keV), used as a target, is on the level of
2x10^6 photons per laser pulse, which is shown to be enough for image accumulation within a few
hundred of pulses. The contrast of the line is about 100 on the background of bremsstrahlung.
The numerical simulations of X-ray transmission through matter show, that with such a source
the phase contrast images may be obtained with suitable source-to-object and object-to-detector
distances even taking into account the polychromaticity of the X-ray source.
