Crimean Expedition of the Institute of Archaeology of RAS on the ash hill located at the southeast part of the settlement «Lilac Bay». In the course of the research was revealed a numerous collection of the red slip ware; their analysis enabled us to obtain new detailed information about the formation and functioning of the hill. According to the hand molded pottery, amphora, glasswares and coins finds the ash hill was functioning in the period from the 2 till the first half of the 6th century AD, but the most intense phase of the hill’s rise was during 4 – first half of the 5 century AD. The red slip ware collection consist of the 276 fragments of dishes and open bowls, flagons and one fragment of the lamp. The pottery was manufactured at the three production centers of the Black Sea and Mediterranean region: Late Roman C/Phocean Red Slip ware (83%), Pontic Red Slip ware (16%) and African Red Slip ware (1%). The analysis of the red slip ware demonstrates that throw and accumulation of the ash did not take place at the one point, but occurred at the same time at the different sites of the hill. It can state unhesitatingly that the central part of hill was created earlier that the remaining parts, the material can be dated from the middle of the 4 century AD till the third quarter of the 5 century AD. Other parts of the hill, where prevails the Phocean Red Slip ware, spring up at the end of 5 century AD.
