Аннотация:As a part of a contaminated soils characterization due to a leak of fuel in a popular neighbourhood of Mexico City, several techniques were conducted to find the source. Geophysical data field measured were associated with the presence of hydrocarbons by a volatile organic compounds (VOC) analyzed in soil gas in situ samples as well as BTEXs, CH4 and CO2 soil gas samples. The integrated data in a graphic map was useful to localize the main polluted areas. During the drilling activities were found three different kinds of free product, the samples was analyzed by gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector (GC/FID). The three samples of free product were classified in the gasoline range but several differences were found. A case study is presented which describes the use of fingerprinting congruently to assess the time frame of a gasoline release and assess whether or not more than one release had occurred.
