- Аннотация: This is an extensive review, the first in the series ESSAYS ON RECENT PUBLICATIONS, of "Geographical Variation in Waders" by M. Engelmoer & C.S. Roselaar. The 331 pp. book was published by Kluwer Academic Publishers, Dordrecht in 1998. Some problematic source materials underlying the analyses in the book, as well as the delineation of source groups are discussed, and some confusions are clarified. The application of a novel statistical technique called POSCON to assign birds to sex and geographical categories is discussed on the basis of two empirical examples using Dunlins and Grey Plovers, respectively.
