- Аннотация: The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in heavy rare-earth metals (HREM) was measured in fields with magnetic induction up to B equals 6 T at temperatures from 10 to 260 K. In the range of the magnetic phase transformations (4-10 K for B equals 6 T) the MCE is large in magnitude. The MCE in thulium is negative when the antiferromagnetic structure is destroyed by the magnetic field. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity of terbium in a magnetic field in the range of the magnetic phase transition is calculated from the MCE measurements and published data.
