Аннотация:The representative of the new genus and species of solitary Entoprocta, Emschermannia ramificatum, is described herein. Emschermannia ramificatum is an epibiont of Aglaophamus malmgreni (Polychaeta: Nephtyidae) collected at a depth of between 25 and 472 m in the Kara Sea. The species is about 250–300 μm long, with 8–10 tentacles, and buds formed from a frontal budding area of a calyx. A calyx and a stalk are not separated from each other by a cuticular septum, and a star-cell complex is absent. Emschermannia ramificatum attaches to a substratum via a basal plate from which pseudostolons grow again. The morphology of E. ramificatum is zooids corresponds to morphology of Loxosomatidae, but the attachment structure is unique for solitary representatives of Entoprocta. It looks very similar to basal plates and stolons of colonial entoprocts, but pseudostolons of Emschermannia serve only for attachment, not for budding (also two representatives were found that look like mini colonies of two zooids in each colony, it is necessary to check if these are real colonies or the result of intergrowth of two separate solitary individuals). Emschermannia morphology could be considered something intermediate between the morphology of solitary and colonial forms, and accordingly to this a possible manner of colonial entoproct evolution is suggested.
