Аннотация:Crystals of (Nd,Y)Al3(BO3)4 and (Gd,Y)Al3(BO3)4 are grown from solutions in borate–molybdate
melts, and the effect of growth conditions on the partition of rare-earth elements between liquid and solid phases is studied. The gadolinium distribution coefficient is close to unity, and that of neodimium ranges from 0.3 to 0.8, depending on solidification conditions. The content of neodimium in the solid phase increases with increasing growth temperature and decreasing solidification rate. Themorphology of crystal faces is sensitive to the structural changes caused by partial replacement of centrosymmetric yttrium aluminum borate by noncentrosymmetric modifications of NdAl3(BO3)4 and GdAl3(BO3)4.
