The workshop addresses the issue of embodied phonetics applied to educational purposes. Embodied phonetics encompasses the theoretical grounds of nonverbal semiotics and multichannel linguistics and their implementation in teaching L2 segmental and suprasegmental units. Multichannel linguistics deals with vocal, kinetic and other modalities and focuses on the interaction of all the channels in natural settings. The research results show kinetic and prosodic concomitance which can be well utilized in L2 environment. The workshop will revolve around the theoretical premises and their extrapolation to teaching English intonation contours. The author’s experience in embodied drilling of terminal tones, various heads and a few phonostyles will be shared. The basis for embodiment lies in spacio-visual gestural representation of the prosodic features. The audience will learn about the specific tools, including AI-based ones, to enhance the educational process and will get acquainted with a newly published textbook fully designed on the embodied phonetics principles.
