Technetium cluster compounds are an interesting object both from the point of view of determining the nature of chemical bonds in them and from the point of view of nuclear power engineering, since they can be formed at different stages of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) reprocessing. At present there is little information about the nature of chemical bonding in technetium oxide clusters, their structure and properties. There are fragmentary data on the existence of compounds with {Tc4O5} nucleus, but these data require verification and clarification. The work is devoted to establishing the nature of oxide cluster compounds formed by incomplete hydrolysis of technetium halide clusters. It includes two components. Firstly, quantum-chemical calculations on this subject have been carried out. Secondly, experimental work related to the synthesis of the studied compounds and their characterisation has been carried out. All this will make it possible to describe the nature of chemical bonding in technetium-oxygen clusters at the modern level and to understand the specificity of their behaviour in the processes of the nuclear chemical cycle.
