The scientific report deals with a set of didactic materials relevant for analyzing media texts in a foreign language and emphasizes the necessity of teacher’s guidance in case of converting from passive understanding of media messages to their critical analysis. The importance of implementing media texts (news articles, social media content, movies, radio broadcasts) in teaching a foreign language is indispensable. Carefully selected media texts can definitely maximize learning outcomes. The essence of integrated approach lies in utilizing linguistic, pragmatic, socio-cultural, and critical thinking potential of media texts in teaching process. Teachers should guide students from mere comprehension of media texts to their analysis and application which fosters not only linguistic competence that is vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation skills but also develops their critical thinking abilities, cultural awareness and communicative skills.
