The Tagalog nominal causal inventory appears to have never been the focus of a special research. Thus, Schachter&Otanes (1972: 477) list 7 causal conjunctions introducing a subordinate causal clause; Malicsi (2013: 153, 157, 170) provides 13 such conjunctions, while Klimenko (2022: 63-64) provides a more comprehensive list of 20 clausal conjunctions. However the nominal causal markers were beyond the scope of those and other works, so my report is a preliminary attempt to fill this gap. Thus the primary goals of my research are: 1) to mainly determine the set of the Tagalog items employed as the markers of nominal causal constructions, based on the available corpus data of Leipzig Corpus, hereafter LC (Goldhahn et al. 2012), and cross-checked with my two informants; 2) based on the approach by Melchuk&Iordanskaya, Israeli, Degand, and mostly by Say, to analyze the main typological and semantic parameters of the nominal causal markers attested in Tagalog. The basis for the study are the methodology and the stimulus questions developed by Sergey Say for their cross-linguistic database NoCaCoDa (Say et al. 2022). As of now the database contains data from 38 languages, with yet only one Austronesian language (Indonesian).
