The focus of the report is the health of working pensioners. In connection with the pension reform of 2018 in Russia, the retirement period has increased for a significant part of the population. At the same time, the share of working pensioners decreased in 2024 compared to 2014 by almost 2 times (2014 – 14,235; 2024 – 7,876, which is 19.15% of the total number of pension recipients). The trend is that the number of working pensioners is decreasing every year. At the same time, the labor market in many industries and areas of activity is experiencing a need for high-quality labor. Research shows that, while inferior in the speed of work, working pensioners are not inferior to (and often surpass) young employees in knowledge and competencies. In other words, the position of workers of retirement age in the Russian market is due to the fact that they are carriers of human capital of a certain quality, especially in the field of intellectual labor, which allows them to occupy highly qualified jobs. However, poor health can reduce productivity and work quality. Unfortunately, there is currently a lack of research establishing the relationship between health and retirement, and therefore shifting thresholds for employment status. Recently, much attention has been paid in the world to policies to involve older people in various programs in order to improve their health and increase the level of socialization, including in the context of the development of the digital economy. Russia has actively joined the number of countries that follow the concept of active aging - in 2016, Russia adopted the “Strategy of Action in the Interests of Older Citizens in the Russian Federation until 2025” and, on its basis, the federal project “Older Generation” within the framework of the national project "Demography". But the health status of the elderly largely depends on their personal behavior and their motivation to lead a healthy lifestyle. Accordingly, there is a demand for research into the state of health and the formation of social policy regarding the health of working pensioners, since health is part of the individual’s utility function and is an important component of human capital.
