Currently, more attention is paid to the stability of engineering structures on permafrost under climate change in the trend of increasing average annual air temperature. These changes have been observed for several decades, leading to many discussions about the stability of engineering structures. Yakutsk is the largest city on permafrost in the world. Practicing various building technologies in the city has become very widespread. Both low-level wooden buildings and high-level reinforced concrete buildings can be found here. Pile foundations with ventilated crawl spaces are widely used. These keep the foundation soil frozen during use. In summer, thawing is less intense due to the shading effect. In winter, cooling is more intense due to the ventilation under the building. Freezing and thawing processes can occur in the foundation with different intensity depending on the natural conditions. The bearing capacity depends largely on the soil temperature, so it is important to prevent the temperature of the foundation soil from rising. In the last decade, civil buildings have a height in the range of 10 to 16 floors. Building a complex is more common than building individual buildings, which provides artificial shading of the surrounding area over a relatively large area.
