In this paper, we analyze how the quantum-optical properties of an atom, molecule or quantum dot are modified in the vicinity of a plasmonic nanoparticle (PN). Specifically, we study the resonance fluorescence of an atom near the PN of both spherical and spheroidal shapes, generation of squeezed states in such systems, and analyze the statistics of photons in the resonance-fluorescence of a two-level-atom.
