Today carbon materials including activated carbon, activated carbon fiber, carbon aerogel and carbon nanotubes, which are used as key components for fabrication of supercapacitor electrodes, are studied extensively. Activated carbon has the advantage of other carbon materials because of its availability, ease of manufacture and lower cost. In this paper porous carbon materials (PCM) were prepared via carbonization (700 – 900 0C) with the excess of active reagent (alkali). As precursors, one used different organic compounds (phenol, 8-oxyquinoline, hydroquinone, PVC and others). Product yield equaled about 30 % of precursor mass. Electrochemical properties (electric capacitance) of prepared samples were studied using cyclic voltammetry technique. For the number of PCM samples with advanced micro-/mesoporosity, the values of specific capacitance obtained in alkaline (6МKOH) and acid (H2SO4) electrolytes fall in the range of 40-165 F/g (engineering specific capacitance).
