This report discusses the concept of the soft skill of nonverbal communication and the problem of lack of attention to this aspect in the context of teaching English as a foreign language, despite the undeniable importance of this phenomenon in public, professional, private, educational spheres for both interacting parties - the student and the teacher. The report includes a review of aspects of nonverbal communication presented in the literature in the context of teaching English as a foreign language based on research conducted in various countries around the world. The practical part of the report analyzes the problems of teaching nonverbal communication in English language classes to students of MIPT and MISIS, at the bachelor's and master's levels, using examples of defending presentations of team projects. The results obtained in the practical part lead to the conclusion of the insufficient understanding of the importance of nonverbal communication by students and teachers due to lack of time and focus on teaching language skills as a priority. Additionally, the research results allow to conclude the relevance of nonverbal skills in public speaking and the necessity of providing pedagogical assistance to students in their development.
