The transition to school is one of the important experiences in a child's life. The current study developed the School Adjustment Questionnaire to obtain data from both teachers and children on three scales: Learning Task Solving, Self-Regulation, Emotional Comfort. A total of 232 first graders (average age 7 y.o.) and their teachers participated in the study. The results of the exploratory factor analysis and the reliability analysis confirmed that the teachers' observations were consistent with the three-factor theoretical model. Whereas the data obtained from the children indicated a "global self-assessment," because of weak differentiation of different adaptation aspects (cognitive, regulatory, emotional). Analysis of agreement between teacher evaluations and children's responses was conducted using the Kappa criterion. Teachers accurately assessed children's adjustment in items related to learning activities and behavior (e.g: A child calls other children names or might push, hit Kappa = 0.146, p-value = 0.021, z= 2.31, Agreement = 61.9%). But have insufficient understanding of children's emotions (e.g: Child is shy or anxious when answering in front of the class Kappa = 0.0266, p-value = 0.548, z= 0.600, Agreement = 28.8%).
