Phosphorescent porphyrins are prospective compounds for a number of applications. Diversity of their properties suitable for these applications can be achieved through wise choice of peripheral substituents. In case of phosphorescent tetrabenzoporphyrins, however this selection at benzo rings is limited. Recent finding of palladium tetraphenyltetrabenzoporphyrin 1 bromination is perspective way to synthesize mono- 2 and octabromoderivative 3 2 and 3 were introduced into Heck and Suzuki reactions, first examples of acryl-substituted compounds 4 and 5 have been synthesized, along with penta-phenylsubstituted 6 and dodecaphenylsubstituted 7. Influence of the substitution pattern and the type of substituent on the UV-Vis, phosphorescence, and electrochemical properties have been studied. Comparison of the obtained data with the literature data on non-extended porphyrins as well as on the the DFT computational studies of these compounds will be discussed.
