The year 2014 seems to have become a geopolitical turning point. This very fact has made us ponder over the current status of the Anglo-Saxon world, its constituents and their functions, by scrutinizing the common language of the heads of states on foreign policy issues. We focus on political metaphor, as it remains one of the most effective ways to manipulate human consciousness. The work offers a detailed analysis of conceptual metaphors used by Anglo-Saxon politicians to create ‘political myths’. We seek to answer a few questions. How Anglo-Saxon politicians represent themselves and their countries in the political arena? What images do they build in their rhetoric? How do they support each other in their communication strategies?
