SERS-active composites based on localized gold nanoparticles in porous silicon matrix (Au/PSi) were studied. The prepara- tion and properties of the Au/PSi substrates with two different types of silicon porosity have been investigated. Raman signal enhancement of organic molecules was investigated on Au/PSi surfaces using 4-mercaptopyridine (4-MPy) as analyte with concentrations down to 10-7M. The potential of Au/PSi surfaces as a possible effective SERS substrate has been demon- strated.
