A meeting of the Mapping and Planetary Spatial Infrastructure Team (MAPSIT) Analysis Group (AG) is scheduled for April 14–16, 2026, at the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI) in Houston, Texas. The meeting will include opportunities for virtual participation. MAPSIT supports NASA and provides expert analysis of planetary mapping, spatial data, and infrastructure supporting science and exploration objectives. This meeting aims to bring together community members from broad sub-fields to discuss planetary spatial data, mapping, infrastructure, tools, and capabilities. The scope of the meeting is guided by the MAPSIT roadmap (https://www.lpi.usra.edu/mapsit/roadmap/). MAPSIT encourages initiatives that ensure planetary spatial data are usable and discoverable for a wide range of research and exploration purposes. MAPSIT also evaluates the necessary tools, software, and capabilities for planetary data and the planetary data ecosystem. The aim of this meeting will be to survey what we have, what we need, and what we want for the future in terms of planetary spatial data and its ecosystem. The desired outcome is to identify sustainable pathways forward that make maximum use of NASA’s planetary spatial data. We are particularly interested in fostering a discussion of cross-body or cross-cutting tools, training, approaches, and/or standards that support missions or planetary data production, maintenance, use, and analysis. We also solicit information about new data products or maps, as well as the approaches, pipelines, and tools that support their production or analysis.
