General Theme Specific interactions broaden the versatility of polymeric and colloidal systems tremendously. While on the one hand the properties are modulated by the attractive forces, the complexation between different constituents allow their utilization in respect to e.g. additional stimuli-responsiveness and enhanced rheological properties and material performances. While segregation is a key principle of self-assembly, complexation is often less regarded. At the same time, the self-assembly scheme can be enriched considerably by taking into account complexation effects. The Ostwald-Colloquium will provide a platform to further the scope of complexation in colloid and polymer systems. Like in a marriage, many unprecedented effects and events are waiting for discovery… Topics of Relevance Complexation in a broad sense both in bulk dispersion and at interfaces including: Experiment Simulation Theory Electrostatic interactions and interpolyelectrolyte complexes H-bonding Hydrophobic interactions and other modes of interaction, including cyclodextrins, Curcurbiturils, calixarenes Preferential adsorption of solutes, including co-nonsolvency
